I'm Home Once More

our lovely new home

So, we have made it. We moved out of the old, slightly life threatening, house, into our new, cozy abode with most of our old roommates a few new ones.  We now reside in the lovely peaceful neighborhood in North Portland known as St Johns.  It was quite the summer with house hunting, cleaning, packing, painting, fixing, and then finally moving.  Once we moved, then there was the whole separate task of unpacking, cleaning, weeding out the things we packed months before and realized we didn't really need to cart around any longer, and settling in.  Just this past friday, i became the proud owner of a free blue desk that is just the right size for all my crafting needs.  And then i found and purchased from a lovely lady Camas WA a Kenmore sewing machine for $35. It came with an adorable little basket, all the little tools that go with sewing machines, and a handful of thread. I spent the rest of the evening unpacking the last of my neglected craft materials.

Now i can begin the art of creating lovely usable things once again.  My hands have missed having something to work with and my brain has suffered from lack of a positive source to channel all the stress and emotion of life. And so sunday afternoon was spent learning the ways of the new sewing machine. I was able to knit a few items this past month for some little baby friends of mine, but now the work space has been created once more and with it a new sanity and peace of mind.

The weather has begun to change, fall is on the way... My favorite season of them all.  The amazing colors of the leaves as autumn makes its presence known.

Things I love about September:  the arrival of my sister and her man from a 4 year stay in providence, the crispness returning to the air, the sunrises and sunsets full of colors that match the many present in the trees, the wonderful family of people that fills this house day in and day out, the anticipation of more sisters moving back to the beautiful Northwest and all the adventure that entails, sunflowers, fall rain, and with every changing of the season comes a renewed passion and drive for life and change and love.  These are the things i want to share with the world, these are the things that spark the imagination that ignites in my brain the need to create something beautiful and purposeful items from things that have lost their use or have been left on the store rack for so long they've been marked down 5 times.  Fall is upon us and with that inspiration has started anew.
